How to set the table for a child's birthday?

Set the table for children's day birthday party, you can follow the standard scheme - put out all the treats at once and place plates with cutlery next to them for little guests. But it’s much more convenient for kids when treats are freely available. Then you will be able to run up to them at any time during the game and have a snack.

For example, with this option, you can put portioned treats on small plates and put them on a common buffet.

The main thing is to make small portions “for one bite” and do not forget about a large number of napkins.

The table should be decorated in a themed style. For example, make it pirate, cowboy, etc. Special sets from the holiday accessories store will help with this. They immediately include plates, glasses, tablecloths and napkins with bright patterns.

Features of creating a menu for a child 1 year old, 2-3 years old, 5-6 years old, 10 years old

Inviting children to your home for a holiday different ages, first of all, you should ask their parents if their little guests have allergic reactions to any foods.

Perhaps a mother categorically forbids her child to eat some dishes. Such points must be taken into account when creating a menu.

  • For one-year-old babies, the best treats will be fruit purees in sealed packages, which are convenient to eat without the help of adults, as well as apples and bananas, cut into large pieces, baby cookies without chocolate or other additives. As drinks, it is worth offering both natural juices and ordinary water in individual bottles.
  • For children aged 2 - 3 years, you can already put on the festive table vegetable puree as a side dish, serve baked poultry without seasonings and sauces, original cutlets, nuggets. The best desserts will be homemade yogurt cakes, assorted fruits and berries.
  • At 5–6 years old, in addition to all of the above, children are already willing to eat salads, try different kinds meat, any desserts. The main thing is to minimize the amount of hot spices in them, and instead of mayonnaise in snacks, use sour cream or unsweetened thick yogurt.

Ten-year-old and older guests will probably already boldly try all the treats served. Therefore, it is enough to clarify their taste preferences in advance or try to prepare something universal that will definitely appeal to all young gourmets.

Menu for a child's birthday should be compiled in accordance with the age of the guests and their preferences. All dishes should be tasty, colorful, healthy and balanced. Kids will definitely love the original presentation.

In order to avoid troubles, parents who are organizing the holiday need to find out from the parents of their young guests whether any of them are allergic to certain foods, sweets, or drinks.

It is also necessary to take into account that children are not very neat at the table, they do not like to sit in one place for a long time and prefer simpler, familiar dishes to various unknown delicacies.

And it is not necessary to prepare many dishes, there may be several of them, but they must be distinguished by their originality. For example, you can put it in crispy baskets from shortcrust pastry and garnish with vegetables.

It is also worth considering the idea of the holiday. If this is, for example, the dishes should correspond to the theme.

1. There should be no spicy, salty, or too fatty dishes on the table. Try to exclude fried foods and snacks with lots of mayonnaise, pepper, garlic, and smoked foods.

2. You should not experiment with salads: introduce new components and add too many ingredients. Remember that children prefer traditional dishes that are familiar to them.

3. If children are very young, exclude brightly colored fruits and vegetables from the menu, which can cause allergies.

4. If you prepare fish dishes, it must be thoroughly cleaned of bones.

5. No carbonated drinks. Only juices, compotes, uzvars, mineral water.

How to organize a holiday so that the children remain well-fed and happy?

We present to your attention a menu for a child’s birthday (recipes with photos):

1) Sandwiches

This is a great ingredient menu for a child's birthday . I will not dwell on this dish in detail, since we have two articles dedicated to it on our website:

But I want to note that when making sandwiches, it is advisable to use ingredients familiar to children and decorate them beautifully.

2) Festive canapés

Children really like canapés because they are tiny in size and easy to use thanks to the skewers. Canapés are prepared from various products: vegetables, fruits, berries, cheese, eggs, champignons, sausages, etc.

Let's take a closer look at how to prepare canapés.

For example, canapes with sausage and tomatoes

Ingredients:

- 1 baguette of black grain bread;
- 200 g boiled sausage;
- 1 sprig of small tomatoes;
— 150 g processed cheese;
- a bunch of lettuce leaves;
- parsley.

Preparing canapés:

Cut the bread into slices and spread with melted cheese. Place a lettuce leaf on each slice.

Fold thin slices of sausage into quarters and pierce them with a skewer, placing a small sprig of parsley inside. Cut the tomato in half and stick it on a skewer.

Canapes with boiled pork and cucumber

Ingredients:

White bread;
- boiled pork;
- butter;
- olives;
- dill;
- cucumbers.

Preparing canapés:

Cut the bread into triangles, grease with butter. Place the boiled pork. Cut the cucumber into longitudinal slices and thread onto skewers. Garnish with olives and dill.

3. Holiday tartlets

To make holiday tartlets, I buy molds in the store and prepare the filling myself. It can be meat, vegetable, fruit or fish salads, pates. The molds are filled with salads and decorated beautifully.

4. Hot dishes

As for the side dish, as practice shows, you shouldn’t cook it a lot. I suggest doing potato mushrooms. To do this, you need to boil the potatoes in their jackets and cut out mushroom-shaped pieces from them. Grease them with sunflower oil, place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven.

Another dish that children love is pizza. I make two types of pizza:

— with chicken and champignons;
- sausage.

I most often buy pizza preparation. I lubricate her homemade sour cream and children's ketchup. And then I finely chop either boiled sausage, or chicken fillet and champignons. Rub on top with a coarse grater hard cheese and decorate with slices of tomato, pepper, olives, and sprigs of herbs.

To prepare shish kebab, chicken fillet (boneless) needs to be cut into cubes and marinated.

Marinade: 3 tbsp. spoons of sour cream or kefir, 2 tbsp. spoons of lean or olive oil, 3 tbsp. spoons of lemon juice, pepper and salt to taste.

Mix everything and season the meat. Add onion, cut into pieces. But you shouldn’t string onions onto skewers - many children don’t eat them. It is needed to taste and soften the fillet.

Place the marinated meat in the refrigerator for 10-12 hours.

Thread the fillet pieces onto skewers. Fry in a frying pan until golden brown crust on a large amount of vegetable oil.

5. Sweet table

I can’t vouch for the taste, but it will be hot :)

Choosing a suitable menu for a children's birthday is not a difficult task, but you need to take into account some nuances.

The children's birthday menu will be different, depending on the age of the child, but there are still basic principles for choosing dishes and preparing them.

Basic criteria for choosing children's dishes:

Also, when choosing dishes, you need to pay attention to the caloric content norm for a particular age and not violate it.

Daily calorie intake for children:

How to choose dishes for children from 2 to 5 years old

Children prefer original presentation and the attractive appearance of the food. When choosing a menu, you need to concentrate not on the quantity of dishes, but on their quality. At this age, the child’s stomach is still weak, low-quality products can lead to problems.

A children's birthday menu should include simple, healthy and simple dishes in original design, especially if it concerns children under 5 years of age
  • Prepare light meals that are easy for a child’s stomach to digest (soup or broth).
  • For the main course, it is preferable to take veal, turkey or chicken.
  • Exclude fish and seafood. Allergies are common in young children. Also, a child can choke on even a small fish bone.
  • There is no need to choose complex dishes; it is better to cook from products familiar to children.
  • You shouldn't put a lot of dishes on the table. A couple of salads, two appetizers, a main course and dessert - no more is needed, since children at an early age do not eat much.
  • For dessert, you should choose low-fat dishes with sour cream or yogurt cream.

How to choose dishes for children from 5 to 9 years old

How to choose dishes for children over 10 years old

For older children, you need to select a hearty menu that includes more meat dishes. The menu for children over 10 years of age is practically no different from that of an adult, because the stomach at this age is no longer weak and easily digests heavier foods.

However, children are still children; they still want original and memorable dishes. You can choose any dishes, but you need to decorate them in an interesting way. To add a festive accent, you can hide a note or card in the main dish (cake), following which the child will find the gift.

Menu option:

  • Pizza.
  • Cake.

Menu for the birthday of a boy and a girl

It is important to put on the table for girls and boys different dishes no need. At an early age, children of both sexes eat approximately the same, so there will be no difference in the preparation of dishes. As the child grows, his body actively develops, which means he needs more nutrients.

Teenage boys eat more than girls because their bodies need more energy. However, this does not mean that there is a big difference in the dishes that should be placed on the festive table.

On the boys' holiday table, you need to put hearty meat dishes that contain a lot of calories and give energy to the growing body.

Also, the boy’s table should include a larger volume of dishes. For girls, light meals and snacks are more suitable, but there should be enough of them, because a girl’s body, like a boy’s, needs energy.

For boys, you can choose pirates, favorite cartoon characters, or comic book characters as decoration. Boys will also be interested in the original design of sandwiches in the shape of boats.

If your birthday is in the summer: what to prepare for a children's party in nature

Children always look forward to a picnic, because they love spending time in nature. And for parents, a children’s picnic is a reason to think about creating a menu, since what is usually taken for a picnic may not be suitable for the child’s body.

When choosing dishes, you should think about convenience first. The food should not fall apart, the sauce should not leak. This rule is important for children; they do not sit still for long and can get dirty.

You should not choose foods high in fat. You should also avoid fried, spicy and salty foods. It's better to prefer fresh fruits and vegetables, put berries in a picnic basket.

Shish kebab is a dish without which it is difficult to imagine a picnic. But heavy meat (pork, lamb) is harmful for children. It is also better to exclude sausages and sausages on fire. But there is no need to leave a children's party without barbecue. You can make a light version of these using chicken. To marinate such a dish you need to use a small amount of vinegar and some seasonings.

Drinking is the most important thing at a children's picnic. We can’t forget healthy fruit drinks and juices; in the heat, children will want to drink.

Children's menu. How to prepare a festive table for a child's birthday:

But also an experienced adult mother of two children. My son is 8, my daughter is 18, and during all this time I have held many, many children’s parties at home.

I always cooked it myself, I share my experience.

Main principles

It's beautiful, but fast

One of the main mistakes of many mothers is choosing beautiful and complex canapés and sandwiches with a bunch of small details (ears, eyes, noses) that cannot be made the day before the holiday, and for which there is almost never enough time before the guests arrive. Everything looks cool in pictures on the Internet, but it’s incredibly difficult to replicate it with an inexperienced hand. For example, make one sandwich and put it on the plate. Children can put the eyes on their own sandwich.

It takes a very long time to make these penguins from olives, carrots and cheese. I checked!

It's common

Don't even argue. I had the opportunity to make sure that children did not like the new experimental salads. They are generally alarmed by a mixture of 3 or more products. Of course, you can cook something original; adult guests will eat it if necessary, but you must have “guests” chicken cutlets, purees, baked goods with the usual fillings, etc. You can show your imagination when serving all these dishes.

It's not harmful

The Internet is full of battles in the comments of parents with different opinions. Some people think that it’s not scary to offer pizza, fries and hamburgers once a year, flavored with mayonnaise and ketchup. Others insist that food should not be harmful on any day of the year. Endless debate, I don't interfere. You should definitely avoid foods that are too fatty, salty, fried (in case one of your guests has pancreatic problems), soda, and other drinks with aggressive dyes.

Age appropriate

This, I think, is understandable. Even now, the article is read by parents of two- and ten-year-old children. Naturally, there are restrictions for each age. If guests from 2 to 10 years old gather for the holiday (this often happens at family events), it is better to prepare several options for dishes.

This can be eaten carefully

Yes, this is a problem. Children come to the holiday in lush snow-white lace or simply in expensive fashionable clothes. A drop of red juice or ketchup, smeared blue cream on a cake, berry stains, etc. often spoil all this beauty forever.

Lots of drinking water

Many children can only drink water. The sweet, sweet juice you prepared may make you even more thirsty. Be sure to label small bottles of water with different bright labels so that everyone knows “their water.” After an active gaming program you want to drink a lot, make a sufficient supply.

Three rounds

Children don't like feasts. Most guests eat little and quickly. Let there be 2-3 approaches for 5-10 minutes. While the guests were getting ready, we had light snacks, then we played. Hot dish, more fun. Cake, have a nice evening everyone, goodbye. At a home party, you can allow such gastronomic breaks; no animator will rush you.

Constructor “Assemble canapes”

This is also my personal experience. Once I saw enough of beautiful and tasty canapés, I decided to make 5 types of 20 pieces each for the children. The result was disastrous. My whole idea with a combination of cheeses, berries, grapes, ham with vegetables and fish with lemon failed.

Comments poured in: “I don’t eat bell peppers,” “Ugh, unhook the fish, I just want an olive,” “I’ll have blueberries, but I won’t have cheese,” etc. The adults then finished eating this “battlefield” disassembled into its component parts with canapés.

I took the experience into account and next time offered empty skewers and small bowls with olives, cheese, slices of cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, lemon, slices of ham, chicken fillet, lettuce leaves and sprigs of herbs. More squares of white and black bread (3x3 cm).

It was a hit! You could make your own canapé and give it an unusual name. Teach children to skewer foods so as not to touch their hands on shared plates.

Main course

It’s difficult to write all the recipes here; I’ll give you a couple of ideas from my own experience.

Chicken skewers (cooked in a frying pan or in the oven)

This is my go-to dish. Many parents complain, but do not have time to try the kebabs themselves, since the children quickly eat everything. They are made first in a frying pan, then 30 minutes before serving - in the oven. It’s convenient for mom, since she doesn’t have to stand at the stove when guests gather, and preparations can be made in advance. Gentle marinade - sour cream, olive oil, lemon

Defrost the dough square. Cut the chicken fillet into pieces, beat it thinly, add salt and lightly pepper. We wrap a block of cheese in some pieces (this is for piglets), and put prunes in other chops.

Now we roll up those that with cheese, and the ball - with filling from prunes. If you are worried that not all children will like prunes, make them only with cheese.

Roll out slightly puff pastry, cut into squares and wrap the meat tubes in it. We sculpt the ears and nose and tail separately and attach them to the “carcass”.

Roll out the other part of the puff pastry and cut into thin strips. We wrap it around the meat balls to form a ball.

Place them together on a baking sheet and brush generously with egg yolk. 45-50 minutes in the oven at 200 degrees (can be reduced to 180 at the end). What sweethearts... :)

Chicken cutlet balls

Previously, I made all sorts of hedgehog mice out of them, using pieces of different products. Then I got tired of it, I started sticking bright pictures on sticks (they are called “cupcake decorations”) based on the holiday theme or ordinary skewers. You can easily find Disney princesses, pirates, and all sorts of different super heroes. I had to print out Sherlock Holmes and attach it to toothpicks myself, but this can be done in advance.

My recipe: fry 2 onions in sunflower oil, combine with 1 kg of chicken fillet, add 100 g of soaked bread in 100 g of milk. Salt and pepper, put the minced meat in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours. Fry the balls over high heat until a crust forms, then finish in the oven for another 30 minutes.

Build your own hamburger with homemade patty

Holding a children's party on your own is incredibly difficult, so I personally rejoice at every way to entertain restless guests.

A five-minute master class on assembling a hamburger with your homemade round cutlet will definitely appeal. Here again it’s easy to cut off the whims “I don’t like tomatoes, pickles, onions, lettuce, cheese.” Let them do what they love. From buns and cutlets. Or vice versa, only with tomatoes and cheese)).

I buy ready-made (small) sesame buns; I don’t offer sauce and mayonnaise to little ones.

Small pies with different fillings

Same good idea, but it’s better to make pies baked, not fried. The size of the pies is “one tooth”. My guests, even the most capricious ones, gladly agree to a pie with potatoes and a pie with meat. Experiments with salted cottage cheese and herbs, cabbage and fish pies are successful with parents, but children do not like them.

Don’t be lazy to make the pies different shapes, so that you can distinguish by appearance what kind of “flying saucer” or “boomerang” filling it has.

I always make pancakes too. I suggest adults wrap salmon or caviar; kids eat it with sour cream.

Fruits and berries

Cups with berries

This is usually placed on a table with sweets (there is no Russian name, we borrow the English candy bar). Just plastic or cardboard cups with a mixture of washed berries. It is better, of course, not to give it to children under 5 years old, they will get dirty.

Just put them out before the start of the holiday, as this is the first thing children grab. Everyone likes small individual portions of beautiful berries, there is no strength to hold on. Let them eat something hot first!

Fruit hedgehogs

With this name and this example, I call for a simple culinary master class. Everyone always gets a hedgehog, you can even take it home for your mother in a small gift bag. You don’t have to eat right away, just use fun at the moment when you need to pacify overexcited guests.

Sweets

There is no consensus here either. Of course, for everyone beautiful photos children's birthdays - mind-blowing cakes with fondant to order. They are not only beautiful, but also tasty, with natural dyes, with low-fat yogurt instead of cream, etc.

My ideas are for ardent opponents of such cakes. And in general, any products with cream at children's parties.

Casserole with sour cream

Naturally, it is prepared for very young guests (2-3 years old). Instead of cake layers there are layers of casserole. Cream - fresh sour cream with sugar. Decorations: fresh berries and colored sprinkles.
